The UNHCR Representation in Bosnia and Herzegovina has commended the significant progress achieved in the country and the strong commitment to eradicating statelessness.

This was stated in a letter of gratitude addressed to the delegation of Bosnia and Herzegovina that participated in the Regional Conference organized by the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE) and UNHCR on access to civil documentation and the prevention of statelessness in Southeast Europe, held in Skopje, North Macedonia.

In the letter addressed to the Minister of Civil Affairs of BiH, Dubravka Bošnjak, the Federal Minister of Internal Affairs, Rama Isak, the Minister of Administration and Local Self-Government of Republika Srpska, Senka Jujić, and the Executive Director of the Association Your Rights BiH, Emir Prcanović, it was emphasized that the collaboration and actions of all relevant authorities in Bosnia and Herzegovina can serve as a model of good practice. In this regard, there is hope that the ambitious goal of eradicating statelessness, set by the #IBELONG campaign, will soon be achieved in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Gratitude was also expressed for the joint statement adopted by the participating countries, committing to make all necessary efforts to promptly resolve all known cases of statelessness within their territories.
