Minister of Civil Affairs of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Dubravka Bošnjak, attended today in Banja Luka a Consultative Meeting titled State Peer Counselling Meeting. This significant event was organized by the Agency for the Development of Higher Education and Quality Assurance of BiH and is part of the project Support to European Quality Assurance Agencies in Alignment with European Standards and Guidelines.

In her address at the meeting's opening, Minister Bošnjak emphasized the crucial role of higher education, research, and innovation in providing support for social connectivity, economic growth, and global-level competitiveness. She highlighted that higher education is recognized as an area of particular interest for Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Activities are focused on implementing the Qualifications Framework and the European Credit Transfer and Accumulation System (ECTS), implementing the Lisbon Convention on the Recognition of Qualifications in Higher Education and Diploma Supplements, and ensuring quality assurance in line with the Standards and Guidelines for Quality Assurance in the European Higher Education Area (ESG).

“Our aim is for academic qualifications obtained at higher education institutions in Bosnia and Herzegovina, as well as periods of study, to be automatically recognized within the European Higher Education Area, and beyond. This way, our students, academic staff, and graduates can freely move for learning, teaching, research, and employment. We will do everything to ensure that Bosnia and Herzegovina is one of the countries where quality assurance operates in accordance with the Standards and Guidelines for Quality Assurance in the European Higher Education Area and where a framework for qualifications is fully established,“ Minister Bošnjak emphasized.

Minister Bošnjak thanked the European Union, the European Association for Quality Assurance, and the European Quality Assurance Register for their support for the project.

Alongside Minister Dubravka Bošnjak, the meeting heard addresses from the President of the European Association for Quality Assurance (ENQA) Douglas Blackstock and the Director of the European Quality Assurance Register for Higher Education (EQAR) Magalie Soenen. The working part of the meeting involved numerous representatives from educational authorities and the academic community in BiH. Opening remarks were also delivered by the Director of the Agency for the Development of Higher Education and Quality Assurance of BiH, Enes Hašić, and the Chairman of the Rectors' Conference of BiH, Radoslav Gajanin.
