Members of the Conference for the health sector in Bosnia and Herzegovina, including the Minister of Civil Affairs of BiH, Dubravka Bošnjak, the Minister of Health and Social Welfare of Republika Srpska, Alen Šeranić, the Minister of Health of the Federation of BiH, Nediljko Rimac, and the representative of the Department of Health and Other Services of the Brčko District of BiH, met today to discuss the most significant issues in the health sector in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

The Conference members supported the activities led by the Ministry of Civil Affairs in obtaining approval for Bosnia and Herzegovina to join Eurotransplant. They agreed that the Ministry should send a letter of intent to the international network expressing Bosnia and Herzegovina's interest in accession, specifying the competencies in this area within the country. In late 2023, the Ministry of Civil Affairs reached out to entity health ministries to inquire about their consent for the Ministry of Civil Affairs of Bosnia and Herzegovina to send a letter of intent to Eurotransplant, expressing Bosnia and Herzegovina's interest in joining Eurotransplant. This represents the first step in the process of new member countries joining this highly important network.

The ministers also exchanged data and information on the coverage of immunization against measles, rubella, and mumps in the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Republika Srpska, and the Brčko District of Bosnia and Herzegovina, as well as information on the occurrence of measles. They emphasized the importance of vaccinating children against measles, rubella, and mumps, urging parents to vaccinate their children to prevent further spread of these diseases among children and calling for increased awareness of the importance of vaccination.

Other issues of significance for public health were discussed, along with information on the implementation of important projects, and the Conference noted good and successful cooperation. The Conference for the Health Sector in Bosnia and Herzegovina will continue its activities to ensure the effective and timely implementation of the conclusions reached.
