The completion of the "Mostar Without Mines" project was marked in Mostar today, effectively clearing the southern part of Mostar of all explosive devices. The ceremony was attended by the Minister of Civil Affairs of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Dubravka Bošnjak, the U.S. Ambassador to BiH, Michael Murphy, the Mayor of Mostar, Mario Kordić, and the Acting Director of the Mine Action Centre in BiH (BHMAC), Enis Horozović.

Minister of Civil Affairs Dubravka Bošnjak stated on this occasion that despite the progress made in demining, there is still much work ahead. "Our commitment to the complete elimination of mines remains a priority. We will continue to collaborate with partners from around the world to secure additional funding and resources needed for further demining. Our goal is not only Mostar but every corner of our country to be free from this deadly threat," said Bošnjak.

The "Mostar Without Mines" project was funded by the United States and implemented through the International Trust Fund for Human Security (ITF), with the Mine Detection Dog Centre (MDDC) carrying out the realization. Demining was conducted in the areas of Hodbina, Malo Polje, and Bačevići.

Minister Bošnjak emphasized the significance of the project for economic prosperity, the revival of tourism, and the development of local communities. The southern part of Mostar, where most of the suspected areas were located near the source of the Bunica River, is a highly popular tourist destination. Simultaneously, it is an area for livestock farming, agriculture, and hunting.

At the ceremony marking the completion of the "Mostar Without Mines" project, it was noted that this is an exceptional example of how good cooperation with donor participation can bring about lasting changes in the safety and development of local communities.
