Minister of Civil Affairs of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Dubravka Bošnjak, has awarded the State Science Award for achievements on the international stage in 2023 to Professor Dr. Haris Memišević.

The Council for Science, in accordance with the Ordinance on the Award in the field of Science in Bosnia and Herzegovina, unanimously proposed that the award be presented to Professor Memišević.

Professor Memišević was honoured for his exceptionally successful work in the field of science, contribution to the development and popularization of science, and promotion of Bosnia and Herzegovina on the international stage. He is employed at the Faculty of Education, University of Sarajevo, where he currently serves as an associate professor and holds the position of Vice Dean for Scientific Research. He was the first head of the Department of Education and Rehabilitation of the same faculty. Professor Memišević is one of the most cited authors in the field of special education in the Balkans. He has reviewed over 250 scientific works, which ranks him among the most productive reviewers in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Minister Dubravka Bošnjak, congratulating Professor Memišević, emphasized the importance of science for the development of society, highlighting that investments in this area at all levels of government should be increased. She stated that the Ministry of Civil Affairs had planned two grants in its budget for the next year, the current grant "Programs for the preparation of projects and potential candidates for funds from the HORIZON EUROPE fund" in the amount of 444,000.00 BAM, and "Support for technical culture and innovation in Bosnia and Herzegovina" in the amount of 117,000.00 BAM.

The solemn ceremony for the awarding of the State Science Award for achievements on the international stage in 2023 was attended by members of the Council for Science, academician Prof. Dr. Ljerka Ostojić, Prof. Dr. Marija Čutura, Prof. Dr. Rifat Škrijelj, Prof. Dr. Reuf Karabeg, and Prof. Dr. Jasmin Velagić.
