Minister Dubravka Bošnjak addressed participants at the 42nd session of the UNESCO General Conference in Paris today, expressing support for the proposed UNESCO program for the upcoming period and emphasizing Bosnia and Herzegovina's commitment to actively collaborate with UNESCO.

Speaking about Bosnia and Herzegovina's collaboration with UNESCO, the minister highlighted the implementation of numerous activities in the fields of education, science, culture, media and information literacy, and sports, emphasizing the excellent cooperation with the UNESCO Office in Sarajevo.

"One of the activities is supporting Bosnia and Herzegovina in identifying indicators for the Sustainable Development Goals in the education sector. We are committed to building a modern educational system, and with the support of UNESCO, we will work on developing an Operational Plan to implement the activities outlined in the Education Transformation Statement."

She also mentioned Bosnia and Herzegovina's dedication to implementing the UNESCO Convention on the Protection of the World Cultural and Natural Heritage.

"I want to emphasize that in January of this year, we submitted the nomination of the Vjetrenica cave for inclusion on the UNESCO World Heritage List. Vjetrenica Cave is an exceptionally significant natural asset that we are confident has universal value, and we hope it will be recognized and protected as a world natural heritage. Additionally, we are committed to preserving intangible cultural heritage. We have submitted the nomination of sevdalinka, another significant element of our intangible heritage, for inclusion on the Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity," Minister Bošnjak said, expressing satisfaction with Banja Luka's admission to the UNESCO Creative Cities Network in the field of music.

The minister announced a project, in collaboration with the UNESCO Office in Sarajevo, to test the implementation of the Indicators for Culture 2030, aiming to measure and monitor progress in how culture contributes to the implementation of the UN 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development at the state and local levels.

She particularly advocated for increased investments and stronger collaboration in the field of science.

Minister Bošnjak expressed dedication to further strengthening cooperation within the UNESCO International Convention against Doping in Sport and gratitude to UNESCO for its support in the areas of media and information literacy, representing a crucial competence in the digital age.
