Minister of Civil Affairs of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Dubravka Bošnjak, held a meeting with the new Regional Director of the International Labour Organization Claire Harasty

Minister of Civil Affairs of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Dubravka Bošnjak, met today in Sarajevo with the new Regional Director of the International Labour Organization (ILO) for Central and Eastern Europe, Claire Harasty. The meeting was an opportunity to discuss the current cooperation between Bosnia and Herzegovina and the ILO, as well as future steps to improve working conditions and employment in the country.

Minister Bošnjak briefed her counterpart on the competencies of the Ministry of Civil Affairs, particularly in the field of labour and employment, and noted that the Ministry has excellent cooperation with the ILO, an organization dedicated to social justice, human rights, and the promotion of decent work for all. Minister Bošnjak and Director Harasty placed special emphasis on the support provided by the ILO, through technical assistance, in establishing the Youth Guarantee programme. They also discussed the implementation of Project "European Union Support to Local Employment Partnerships - Phase II" (LEP II), funded by the European Union, aimed at improving the socio-economic situation in BiH.

The Ministry of Civil Affairs of Bosnia and Herzegovina has formed a Working Group to develop the Employment Strategy in Bosnia and Herzegovina, demonstrating its commitment to improving employment policies in the country.

At the meeting between Minister Bošnjak and Director Harasty, activities on Bosnia and Herzegovina's European path were once again prioritized, as well as the implementation of all international labour conventions of which Bosnia and Herzegovina is a member.

Regional Director of ILO, Claire Harasty, who recently assumed the position, thanked the minister for the reception and expressed expectations that the cooperation will continue to be at a high level.
