The Minister of Civil Affairs of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Dubravka Bošnjak, held a meeting with the Chief of Mission of IOM, Laura Lungarotti

The Minister of Civil Affairs of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Dubravka Bošnjak, met with the Chief of Mission of International Organization for Migration (IOM), Laura Lungarotti for Bosnia and Herzegovina, in order to discuss the further improvement of cooperation between the Ministry of Civil Affairs and IOM.

During the constructive meeting, Minister Bošnjak and Ms. Lungarotti discussed the key areas of cooperation between the two parties, with an emphasis on health, education and youth, and work and employment. Both sides emphasized the importance of continued cooperation in these areas in order to achieve better conditions and prospects for migrants.

Ms. Lungarotti informed Minister Bošnjak in detail about all current activities and projects carried out by IOM in Bosnia and Herzegovina, as well as about the organization's future plans.

The Minister reminded that the Council of Ministers of Bosnia and Herzegovina adopted the Strategy in the field of migration and asylum for the period 2021-2025, as well as the Action Plan that accompanies this strategy. The Ministry emphasized its regular cooperation with the competent institutions of the entities and Brčko District in collecting information on activities aimed at mitigating the migrant crisis.

In accordance with the request of the IOM representative, the Mine Action Centre in Bosnia and Herzegovina organized basic mine warning training for 25 persons who will be engaged inside the immigration camps. This training is part of regular activities conducted by IOM to ensure the safety and well-being of migrants.

At the end of the meeting, clear wishes were expressed for the continuation of successful cooperation between the Ministry of Civil Affairs of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the International Organization for Migration.
