The Secretary of the Ministry of Civil Affairs of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Biljana Čamur Veselinović, visited Široki Brijeg, where she participated in a roundtable discussion titled "Preservation and Promotion of Franciscan Material and Immaterial Cultural-Historical Heritage through the Development and Promotion of the Franciscan Cultural Route." The roundtable was organized in cooperation with the Office for European Integration of the West Herzegovina County and the Development Agency of the Dubrovnik-Neretva County (DUNEA).

"This roundtable is of great significance in terms of our active participation in existing certified cultural routes of the Council of Europe and the initiation of new cultural routes. Currently, there are 47 certified cultural routes, with 4 of them passing through Bosnia and Herzegovina, in which we are actively involved. I believe that through this roundtable, we will reach valuable conclusions, and it will serve as an excellent foundation for the initiation of a new 'Franciscana' cultural route that aims to connect all those who preserve, inherit, and promote the rich cultural heritage of the Franciscans," stated Biljana Čamur Veselinović, the Secretary of the Ministry of Civil Affairs of Bosnia and Herzegovina, before the event.

The event was organized as part of the "Franciscana" project, which is funded by the Ministry of Regional Development and European Union Funds of the Republic of Croatia through the Croatia-Bosnia and Herzegovina cross-border cooperation program. The panel was held within the framework of the 3rd International Scientific and Professional Conference "Digitalization, Archiving, Preservation, and Promotion of Immaterial Cultural Heritage."

The roundtable discussion particularly focused on the material and immaterial cultural heritage associated with the presence of the Franciscans in Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, and Montenegro over the past centuries. The key topic highlighted during the panel was the necessity and significance of preserving and promoting the rich Franciscan cultural history through the development and promotion of the "FRANCISCANA" cultural route. This route connects Franciscan monasteries, shrines, and related cultural institutions such as museums, galleries, and libraries. This event provided an opportunity for a constructive exchange of views and experiences among distinguished experts, historians, and representatives of public institutions responsible for the preservation and promotion of cultural heritage in these areas.

Thanks to the contributions of various stakeholders, including members of the Franciscan Order, as well as professionals and the business sector, the idea of "Franciscana" was affirmed, and a foundation was created for its further growth. The project's value will also contribute to the promotion of tourism in Herzegovina and all its potential.
