The Minister of Civil Affairs of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Dubravka Bošnjak, participated in the "Healthcare as an Investment 2023" conference organized by the American Chamber of Commerce in Bosnia and Herzegovina (AmCham BiH), in collaboration with the Association of Innovative Pharmaceutical Manufacturers (UIPL) and IQVIA. The conference brought together domestic and international leaders, experts from the health sector, key decision-makers at various levels of government, and major companies from the health industry to exchange best practices, offer solutions, and promote progress in various health areas.

During her speech to the conference attendees, Minister Bošnjak stressed the value of cooperative partnerships between governments, health care facilities, the private sector, and civil society. She emphasized that the cooperation of all these actors is key to the successful achievement of goals in the health sector and that this is the only way to improve services and the availability of healthcare for citizens.

She specifically emphasized the significance of the European Union's strategic program called "EU4Health," for which the Ministry of Civil Affairs initiated the accession process. The EU4Health program utilizes EU funds to impact disease prevention, health promotion, cross-border health threats mitigation, health digitization, ensuring the availability and affordability of medicines and other medical products, and strengthening health systems as a whole.

Nedim Hamzić, the Secretary-General of AmCham BiH, mentioned that more than 100 participants from Bosnia and the region were attending the conference, all of whom share similar challenges and thoughts on health and how to reform the health sector in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Ana Petrović, President of the Association of Innovative Pharmaceutical Manufacturers in Bosnia and Herzegovina, stated that the goal of the gathering is to raise awareness that health is an investment. She emphasized that the innovative industry aims to provide citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovina with the best innovative medicines similar to those available to citizens of the European Union.

The conference in Sarajevo covered a range of current topics, including healthcare digitization, identification and removal of key health barriers, improving access to medicines, and innovative solutions to create a more efficient healthcare system.

Minister Dubravka Bošnjak concluded her address with the hope that this conference would serve as a driver for positive changes in health and that collaboration among all stakeholders would result in better healthcare for the residents of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

The representative of the Ministry, Davor Peštović, also participated in a panel discussion on the topic "Discussion on Challenges in Resolving Healthcare Barriers." This was one of three panels where experiences regarding contemporary healthcare challenges were exchanged.
