Representatives of the Government of Japan delivered 40 Toyota vehicles to the Ministry of Civil Affairs, which is part of the donation of the Government of Japan to Bosnia and Herzegovina consisting of 120 Japanese vehicles of the latest generation of a total value of around BAM 7 million.

The vehicles are intended for public institutions in the social protection system in Bosnia and Herzegovina, which are identified as a priority by the entity ministries responsible for social protection. The donation of the Government of Japan will significantly improve the mobility of social protection institutions and raise the quality of their services and further facilitate the access to social services to the most vulnerable groups of citizens in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

The Minister of Civil Affairs of BiH, Mr. Adil Osmanovic, stressed that, thanks to the Government of Japan for this exceptional donation, many people in the most remote places will more often feel the care of society and the state for their living situation and that their sense of helplessness and isolation will at least be mitigated.

"The vehicles of this donation are solely intended for public institutions in the social protection system in Bosnia and Herzegovina whose work is directly focused on providing different forms of assistance to the most vulnerable groups of citizens. We are sure that the donation of the Government of Japan will improve the mobility of social protection institutions to a considerable extent and raise the quality of their services to a higher level, and that, in this sense, the difficulties unfortunately faced by the large number of persons with disabilities, older people, children without parental care and persons who are in a position to use the services of the social protection system will be alleviated", said the Minister Osmanovic.

The Ambassador of Japan, Mr. Kazuya Ogawa, pointed out that the ultimate beneficiaries of this grant are the social protection institutions in both entities and the Brcko District. "It should be emphasised that this grant users are socially vulnerable categories, such as persons with disabilities and third age persons. In this sense, this project has a decidedly humanitarian character," said Ogawa.

It was also noted during the ceremony that the past 20 years of diplomatic relations between the two countries were also marked by the fact that the Government of Japan has made a contribution to the economic and social development of Bosnia and Herzegovina through a series of extremely valuable, concrete and properly directed donations.

The remaining 80 vehicles of the donation are planned to be delivered in the second quarter of the next year. The total value of the donation is approximately BAM 7 million.
