Reception for Elite and Distinguished Athletes of Bosnia and Herzegovina Held at the Ministry of Civil Affairs

Biljana Čamur Veselinović, Secretary of the Ministry of Civil Affairs of Bosnia and Herzegovina, hosted a reception for athletes who were categorized for 2025 as distinguished and elite athletes of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Through this year’s categorization process, the Ministry included a total of 63 athletes, of whom 12 were recognized as distinguished athletes and 51 as international-class athletes. Financial awards ranging from BAM 1,400 to BAM 2,600 were secured for these athletes.

Addressing those present, Secretary Čamur Veselinović emphasized that the Ministry of Civil Affairs of Bosnia and Herzegovina continuously works on creating concrete support mechanisms for sport and strives to be a reliable partner to sports federations, clubs, and athletes throughout the country.

She highlighted that a total of BAM 1,342,000 in grant funding was allocated to sport for 2025. These funds supported the organization of international competitions in Bosnia and Herzegovina, enabled appearances of national teams, and improved conditions for training and competitions.

The Ministry’s support is directed toward a broad range of beneficiaries – from the Olympic Committee of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Paralympic Committee of Bosnia and Herzegovina to sports federations and clubs.

Special attention has been devoted to young athletes, as the long-term development of sport depends on talented young people having the opportunity to progress and build their careers with institutional support.

The reception was also an opportunity for an open discussion on the challenges and difficulties athletes face on a daily basis, ranging from training and preparation conditions to participation in international competitions and securing the necessary support for further career development. During the meeting, the Ministry of Civil Affairs of Bosnia and Herzegovina reaffirmed its readiness, within its competencies, to continue assisting athletes and contributing to the creation of better conditions for their work and sporting success through coordination and cooperation with relevant institutions and sports organizations.
