Minister Bošnjak Visits Stadler’s Children’s Home "Egypt"

The Minister of Civil Affairs of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Dubravka Bošnjak, visited Stadler’s Children’s Home "Egypt” in Sarajevo, an institution that has existed for more than a century and a half and provides care for children without parental care. During the visit, the Minister spoke with the Home’s management about its daily operations, plans for the coming period, as well as the challenges the institution faces in ensuring continuous care for children.

During the visit, it was emphasized that Stadler’s Children’s Home "Egypt" holds special significance due to its long-standing dedication to children without parental care and children facing various life challenges. The Home provides a safe environment, educational and developmental support, healthcare, and something equally important for every child — a sense of acceptance, belonging, and the warmth of a home.

Minister Bošnjak stressed that the work of this institution has a strong humanitarian character, as it brings together care, responsibility, and selfless service to the most vulnerable members of society on a daily basis.

“Here we can best see how important it is for society to recognize and support those who care every day for children who need security, attention, and support the most. Stadler’s Children’s Home "Egypt" is a place where children receive support, care, and an opportunity to grow up with dignity. This is work that deserves respect and concrete support,” said Minister Bošnjak.

The Sisters Servants of the Child Jesus introduced the Minister to the institution’s current capacities, the organization of educational groups, as well as the material and infrastructure needs necessary to maintain the quality of care. Discussions also focused on the Home’s long-term plans, through which hundreds of children have passed, including improving accommodation conditions and expanding existing support programs for children and families from the local community. The Sisters thanked the Minister for her visit and continued support, emphasizing that every form of assistance directly contributes to creating a safe and warm home for the children growing up there.

With this visit, the Ministry of Civil Affairs of Bosnia and Herzegovina continued its ongoing cooperation with the "Egypt" Home. At the beginning of 2026, the Ministry provided BAM 10,000 in non-refundable financial support for the institution’s work, and the agreement on the allocation of funds was signed on behalf of the Home by Sister Ana Marija Kesten.

Minister Bošnjak thanked the Home’s management and staff for their dedicated work, emphasizing that the strength of a society is reflected precisely in its attitude toward children, people in need, and those who work every day quietly, responsibly, and with humanity.

Stadler’s Children’s Home "Egypt" was founded in 1890 by the first Archbishop of Vrhbosna, Josip Stadler, and its mission has since been continued by the Sisters Servants of the Child Jesus. Today, the institution provides comprehensive care for children without families, including organized accommodation, upbringing, education, and healthcare, along with additional programs for children and occasional assistance to families in need. In this way, the Home continues to remain open and dedicated to the wider community.
